Project Worker 

Part time – 19 hrs per week - Flexible (Term Time)

The School Completion Programme (SCP) is a Tusla funded programme that aims to have a significant positive impact on levels of children and young peoples’ attendance, participation and retention in primary and second level schools and on numbers of students who successfully complete Leaving Certificate or equivalent.

The core principles of School Completion Programme are to improve Attendance, Participation and Retention. This service is generally a school-based programme that operates at both primary and post primary level. As part of the SCP team the Part time Project Worker will offer support in-school during school term time.

Location: The work outlined will be carried out within St Mark’s/Tallaght CNS School Completion Programme cluster schools. Probationary period will apply.

Special Conditions:

  • Level 7 Qualification in one of the following: education/teaching, youth/community work, social care/science, or a related discipline preferable.
  • Knowledge of the Irish education system and the factors associated with early school leaving.
  • Experience of working with children and young people in a mentoring capacity; one to one, and in group settings.
  • Excellent communication, planning, organisational, networking and report writing skills.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal.
  • Be ICT proficient.
  • A full, clean driving licence and own transport essential.

In accordance with the National Vetting Bureau (Children and Vulnerable Persons) Acts 2012 to 2016, Garda Vetting is a standard requirement for the successful candidate.

The Role

  • Provision of direct support to targeted students in school
  • Communicating with and providing support to families of referred students
  • Liaising and collaborating with relevant stakeholders (Schools, Youth Services, Child and Family projects, Education Welfare, Tusla, Social Work etc.) on behalf of young people and their families
  • Working on a one-to-one basis and in groups with children and young people in school
  • Planning and delivery of evidence-based and evidence-informed activities
  • Working as part of, and actively contributing to the SCP team
  • Adhering to the policies of the School Completion Programme

Suitable candidates will be positive, creative and flexible and work well as part of a team.

The post will be fixed term/specific purpose contracts which are subject to funding and probationary period.

Salary: The salary scale is based on the City of Dublin V.E.C Youth Worker Salary Scale.
