Position: Community Outreach Worker Swords

Location: Swords / Baldoyle Youth Service

Work Schedule: 37.5 hours – FTC until 31.12.24

Contract: FTC until 31/12/25

Salary: €34,513- €49,913 DOE

Reporting to: Youth Service Manager

The Role:

This is an outreach youth work position which will focus on building relationships with young people from New Communities (refugees) across the Fingal catchment area, based on Crosscare’s Youth Work Approach, working in partnership with them to identify their needs and interests, support referrals to services and develop/deliver programmes to meet these needs and integrate them into the community.

General Responsibilities:

  • To develop positive relationships with international young people (new communities who are/have moved to Fingal catchment area) and provide a service to them at times and locations that work for them, including regular youth services on some late evenings.
  • To carry out a community profile and area analysis to develop a deeper understanding of the needs, issues, motivations and opportunities for young people (refugees) in the New Community target group, incorporating their perspective in that analysis.
  • To establish strong working relationships with other agencies working to improve the lives of Ukrainian people living in Ireland. Networking and interagency work is key for this role.
  • To establish new programmes for groups and individuals aged 10-24 years as may be required within the area to meet emerging needs using youth work methodologies, in line with funding requirements.
  • This is a pilot programme and collaboration with DDLETB in terms of evidence gathering and evaluation will be a primary function of this role.
  • To set up inclusion/ integration groups with local young people, reducing barriers and building relationships based on shared interests.
  • To be an advocate for young people from immigrant communities living in Ireland but in particular young Ukrainians aged 10-24.
  • To record the work using agreed systems.
  • To ensure organised programmes fit within the youth work process and Crosscare’s Youth Work Approach.
  • To attend and participate at staff meetings and other meetings as requested and work in collaboration with the existing team.
  • To represent the Youth Service, when requested, at various committees and networks.
  • To submit all paperwork for managers, funders etc within the specified time period.
  • To work within the ethos and values of Crosscare.
  • To implement the Crosscare Strategy.
  • To attend training relevant to the work.
  • To manage challenging behaviours and situations.
  • To attend supervision regularly with the line manager.
  • To carry out any other duties assigned by your line manager.

Qualification Required & Experience Required

Education Requirements:

  • Third Level Qualification in Youth Work and a

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience within the youth work sector.

Desirable

  • Some experience of outreach work.
  • Full drivers licence

  • Have an understanding of the work of Crosscare’s Youth Services.
  • Have an understanding of the National Policy Framework for Youth Work, in particular The Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures Policy Framework and the National Quality Standards Framework (NQSF).
