The Dales Centre is a community organisation, set up in 2000, to address the problems of drugs use in the Dublin 17 and surrounding areas. The Dales works with individuals and families from the Dublin 17 area, to assist them in addressing the issue of problematic drug and alcohol use.

Project Worker

We currently have a vacancy for a Project Worker. The successful candidate will work as part of the team at the Dales Centre, working with individuals affected by problematic substance use. The role will consist of developing a case load, providing one to one support, carrying out assessments, and developing care plans. The successful candidate will also be involved in the initiation, development and facilitation of our Therapeutic & Educational Groups that we run here at Dales. Outreach duties are also part of the role.

The successful candidate will have:

• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working with people affected by substance misuse and addiction.
• NQF Level 7 or higher in the area of addiction or related field, social care, counselling, youth- work etc.
• Experience in undertaking assessments, developing care plans, interagency working and case management within the NDRIC framework.
• Knowledge and experience in developing and facilitating educational and therapeutic groups
• Understanding of the complexities of addiction and the issues related to drug misuse
• An understanding of related health issues, including mental health and crisis intervention.
• Good working knowledge of harm reduction and how it applies to a low threshold service.
• An understanding of the process of addiction and its relevance to a client group with varying needs.
• Understanding of the wider needs of the community relevant to alcohol, drugs and community issues
• PC Literate, must be able to demonstrate competent computer skills.
• Experience of using Data bases for recording of relevant information
• Be highly motivated and able to work off their own initiative.

The successful candidate will be employed by Dales Centre, Darndale, Dublin 17 on a permanent contract, which is subject to ongoing funding.

The Dales Centre is funded by the HSE and the Dublin North East Drug and Alcohol Task Force.
