Research and Development of Effective Family Support for the Youth Justice Sector

Request for Tender

Background & Context

Le Chéile Mentoring is a registered charity that provides national, volunteer youth and parent mentoring, restorative justice and family support, to young people and their families where the young person is involved in or at risk of offending. Working in partnership with the Probation Service, Youth Diversion Projects, Oberstown Detention campus, and Greentown, Le Chéile aims to reduce youth offending and improve outcomes for young people and their families. We work with young people aged 12 to 24 years and their parents across the country.

Le Chéile recognises the systemic nature of the family and the dual impact offending behaviour and contact with the criminal justice system has on the individual involved and family members. We recognise the role of the family in addressing the recovery of the young person and the need to provide targeted support to the family to assist them in this.

Le Chéile now wishes to undertake research which explores in detail the nature and scale of family support needs among its service users, and which informs the development of an appropriate service response to meet those needs.

We are inviting tenders from suitably qualified and experienced researchers to undertake a research and service development project which aims to answer the following research question:
How can families be best supported by Le Chéile when their children / young people are at risk of or involved in offending behaviour?

The project will commence in July 2024 and be completed by end of May 2025. A maximum of €30,000 is available for this project inclusive of V.A.T, travel, and all expenses.

Full tender details are included in the tender document attached below.

Interested parties should return their tender applications by email to Carol Doyle caroldoyle@lecheile.ie by Thursday 30th May @ 5pm.

This Research Project is funded by the St. Stephen’s Green Trust under their Family Matters Grant Programme 2022 -2025.
