Job Title: Support Coordinator
Location: Celbridge, Co. Kildare
Contract: Permanent, 35 hours/week
The Role
This is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity to coordinate a range of personalised supports that empower individuals with disabilities to pursue meaningful lives in their own homes and communities. As a Support Coordinator, you will work in close partnership with each person, their families, and chosen supporters to co-create and maintain individualised service arrangements that reflect their will and preferences. You will champion inclusive, rights-based practices in line with New Directions, the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015, and the National Human Rights Strategy for Disabled People 2025–2030. This role is central to delivering on Ireland’s evolving vision for disability services—one that prioritizes autonomy, inclusion, and opportunities to lead fulfilled meaningful lives.
Essential Criteria
- A recognised third-level qualification in Social Care or a related field
- Minimum of three years’ experience supporting people with intellectual disabilities in a community setting
- CORU registration
- Knowledge of New Directions, Social Role Valorization, Supported/Self-Directed Living, and the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015
- Demonstrated commitment to person-centred, rights-based support and inclusive practice
- Experience facilitating self-directed living and meaningful community participation
- Proven leadership, organisational and communication skills
- Ability to work in partnership with individuals, families, and external stakeholders
- Full clean driving license and access to a vehicle
Desirable Experience
- Familiarity with local community resources and networks
- Experience coordinating personalised budgets or individualised support arrangements
- Understanding of the National Framework for Person-Centred Planning and its application in service delivery
- Awareness of current national strategies and funding models supporting disability inclusion
Responsibilities & Accountabilities
- Lead the design and coordination of supports based on each person’s goals, needs, and preferences
- Promote and uphold each person’s decision-making rights, in line with the Assisted Decision-Making (Capacity) Act 2015
- Ensure service delivery aligns with New Directions, the National Disability Strategy, and the UNCRPD
- Support individuals to explore and maintain socially valued roles within their community
- Build respectful partnerships with families, advocates, and community stakeholders
- Recruit, supervise, and inspire a team of dedicated support workers
- Monitor quality and ensure supports are continuously improving and responsive to sectoral changes
- Stay informed of current legislation, policy, and best practices in disability services
- Contribute to the development of inclusive, sustainable service models that reflect the evolving landscape of disability provision in Ireland
