Bray Travellers Community Development Group: Traveller Community Wellbeing Awareness Worker (Part Time)

Vacancy: (Part-Time 10hrs) Traveller Community Wellbeing Awareness Worker
Bray Travellers Community Development Group Clg, (BTCDG), which was established in 1997, is a not-for-profit organisation of Travellers and settled people working together in the Bray and Greystones Municipal Districts. The organisation addresses Traveller issues in the areas of health, accommodation, education, youth, children, employment and enterprise.
BTCDG invites applications for the position of a part-time (10 Hours per week) Traveller Community Wellbeing Awareness Worker.
Salary: €29,120 per annum (pro-rata)
This is a fixed term contract for 12 months.
Overall Purpose of the post:
The Traveller Community Wellbeing Awareness Worker will work in partnership with the Traveller Mental Health Coordinator and other relevant organisations that have a responsibility for supporting the mental health and wellbeing of the Traveller community. The Focus of the work will be with Travellers in the Bray and Greystones Municipal Districts
The overall aim of this post is mental health promotion and signposting to additional supports as required. This new post is an action within the Traveller Mental Health Steering Group. The post is in line with the South East Community Healthcare 5-year NTHAP implementation plan which was developed to support and improve Traveller mental health across the region
The successful candidate will have the following requirements for the post:
- A member of the Traveller community as the Traveller Community Wellbeing Awareness worker position is a peer led post.
- Candidates with no formal education will be considered if they have significant experience working in a Traveller or Community Development organisation.
- Have a good understanding of the Traveller Community, and particularly in relation to issues that impact on Traveller Mental Health and Wellbeing.
- To Participate in relevant and appropriate training to support personal and professional development.
- To demonstrate good verbal, written and IT skills.
- Good communication, listening, interpersonal and group work skills.
- Demonstrate ability to work on own initiative as a lone worker and/or as part of a team.
- Access to transport and hold a full clean driving license.
