About the Position
Quality Matters is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Finance Manager to provide strategic direction and oversight on the financial management of our organisation. This role is central to ensuring our strong financial governance, accountability, and transparency across all areas of our work. The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing financial operations, preparing budgets and financial reports, playing a key role in financial governance and oversight and working closely with the CEO and board finance Sub-Group. They will be skilled in supporting a team to engage with procedures and processes supporting the Board of Directors with ensuring compliance with all regulatory and funder requirements.
The Finance Manager will be responsible for managing the Accounts Administrator, who works 20 hrs a week. They will report directly to the CEO, and will work alongside Quality Matters’ Chief Operations Officer and We Make Good Manager in supporting strategic decision making and contributing to the sustainability and impact of Quality Matters’s work.
Location - Hybrid / remote work, with occasional meetings/staff days in Dublin
Hours – Flexible, part-time (16 hours per week and an additional day per month)
Work Schedule - Flexible, with 75% of hours undertaken during standard working hours (i.e., Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM)
Salary Expectations - €40,000 to €43,000 base rate calculated on a pro-rata basis. The exact figure will be dependent on the candidate’s experience and qualifications. Quality Matters offers a base rate-of-pay along with a team-based bonus scheme - based on achievements of team targets. This increases gradually from year 1 to 3 up to an estimated €4,000.
Role Expectations
The person in this role will be responsible for:
- Strategic Financial Leadership
- Demonstrated experience in overseeing financial planning processes, including annual budgeting and multi-year forecasting, for both the consultancy and social enterprise departments
- Proven ability to support the strategic and operational goals of an organisation through effective financial planning and analysis
- Track record of aligning financial strategies with organisational priorities in a non-profit or values-driven context
- Experience producing financial insights and commentary to inform strategic decisions at the leadership or board level
- Management of Accounts Administrator Position
- Experience in supervising or mentoring the Accounts Administrator, including supporting day-to-day operations and professional development
- Ability to oversee the quality and timeliness of work carried out by the Accounts Administrator (e.g. payroll, bookkeeping, invoicing, reconciliations, following-up with aged debt, stock control system for social enterprise)
- Ability to oversee submission of Revenue PAYE and VAT returns
- Skilled at supporting staff in improving financial systems and processes
- Support Organisational Financial Operations and Governance
- Proficient in ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, payroll, VAT returns, and compliance with Irish accounting standards
- Experience in the preparation of financial statements, management accounts, and coordinating annual audits
- Understanding of regulatory and governance requirements for non-profits in Ireland, including financial reporting obligations to funders, Revenue, and the Charities Regulator
- Familiarity with the financial elements of funding contracts and service-level agreements
- Develop and present bi-monthly management accounts and reports for the CEO, the Finance Sub-Committee, and the Board of Directors
- Innovates and looks for efficiencies and ways to reduce time, costs and improve engagement with our clients.
- Guidance to Management in Financial Decision-Making and Budgeting
- Ability to translate complex financial data into accessible information for non-financial managers and board members
- Experience working closely with senior management teams to develop programme or project budgets
- Ability to offer advice and guidance on acquisition of new premises— working with a premises Sub-Group of the board
- Skilled in financial modelling and scenario planning to support risk management and operational decision-making
- Comfortable advising on cost control, sustainability, and value-for-money considerations in both operational and project contexts

Personal Specification
We are searching for a candidate with the following qualifications and attributes:
- Qualifications and Experience Required
- Professionally qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or equivalent experience
- Confident with Xero, Simple Pay or similar software
- Strong Excel and Google Spreadsheet skills
- Qualifications and Experience Desired
- Experience in charity/social enterprise finance, including managing grant funding and trading income
- Experience in consultancy, and/or manufacturing or social enterprise sectors
- Experience of property acquisition
- Personal Attributes
- Strong written communication skills in preparing written reports for CEO/COO and Board of Directors
- Clear interpersonal communication skills with ability to explain finances to non-finance colleagues and support them to engage with new or existing systems
- A desire to improve and grow the business.
- Well organised, detail-oriented, and proactive; able to work independently in a collaborative team
