Good Shepherd Cork (GSC) provides a range of emergency accommodation and outreach services to women, children and families who are homeless or vulnerable to homelessness. Redclyffe family hub, a service of GSC, provides emergency accommodation and supports to families who are homeless.

We are seeking applications for a full-time Resettlement (Social Care) Worker on a permanent relief basis for Redclyffe.

Resettlement (Social Care) Workers are responsible for assisting in the delivery of a welcoming, compassionate, and professional service for families staying in the hub.

This is a full-time position, and the successful candidate must be available to work 36 hours per week, which involves shift work providing 24-hour cover, 7 days per week. Flexibility is required.

Essential Requirements:

  • A recognised professional qualification in Social Care or appropriate equivalent.
  • Experience working with families, particularly those experiencing homelessness.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to establish trusting relationships with residents.
  • Professional and caring approach to working with families who are vulnerable.

Roles & Responsibilities:

Reporting to the management team within the family hub, the candidate will:

  • Assess housing and support needs using Care and Case Management Assessment Tools and approach.
  • Develop and implement appropriate care plans and ensure these are adhered to.
  • Have an excellent knowledge and understanding of the Children’s First Guidelines for Child Protection and Safeguarding and implement these appropriately.
  • Implement all organisational and service-level procedures and policies including Health & Safety.
  • Liaise with other services within Good Shepherd Cork and with external agencies on behalf of families staying in Redclyffe.
  • Take on other such other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
