We have an exciting new opportunity within our Communications team in National Office, Dun Laoghaire, Co. Dublin!

We are seeking an experienced Communications and Public Affairs Specialist to provide dedicated support to the organisation's communications, advocacy and campaigning functions. This role will support the delivery of key public relations and public affairs activity at Acquired Brain Injury Ireland.

This is a Fixed-Term (2 years), Full-Time, 35 hours contract.

Starting Salary - €54,256 - DOE

Role Duties:

  • Building internal relationships with staff, brain injury survivors and families to engage in grassroots political engagement and relationship building via our local services
  • Co-ordinate site visits and events to promote political engagement locally and nationally
  • Develop a national ABI advocacy/voice group to engage in public affairs and media relations work and policy consultations
  • Identify strategic opportunities to raise awareness of the value and impact of neuro-rehabilitation by securing profile for the work of ABI Ireland in mainstream and new media
  • Engage in a targeted way with members of the media at local and national levels to raise public awareness of our key campaign issues
  • Ensure consistency and clarity of organisational message, working collaboratively with team members to maximise profile across all communications platforms

Qualifications:

  • Degree in social/political science, communications, or relevant discipline
  • Preferably a post graduate qualification in same or related subject.

Essential Criteria:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the political and media landscape and 3-5 years’ experience in communications and/or public affairs
  • Experience and ability to work across a wide range of stakeholder groups
  • Demonstrated attention to detail
  • Good judgement, showing logical decision making and a hands-on approach
  • Ability to work as part of a team while also being able to define and guide own work under minimal supervision
  • Excellent communication skills: verbal, written, report writing and presentation
  • Project management skills
  • Excellent MS Office skills
  • Ability to problem solve and be agile
  • A clear commitment to the values of the organisation.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience of working in an area of disability/illness/health promotion would be an advantage.

Role Benefits:

  • Salary – HSE 2022 Grade 6 (€54k-€58k)
  • Hours and days of work flexible, with part-time role considered for the right candidate
