Position: General Manager

FCRS is a company limited by guarantee and was incorporated in July 2006.

Its objectives include:

  • to operate community, recreation and sports facilities in the Fingal area
  • to provide staff to manage new community, recreation and sports facilities
  • to cater for the leisure, social and recreational of surrounding community.

The Company propose to recruit a General Manager to develop, promote and support the operation of FCRS on behalf of Fingal County Council.

The Role

The General Manager will report to the Chair and Board of the Company while having overall responsibility for the day-to-day administrative operations and accountability of the Company. The key role will be to manage an overall framework of best governance structures and practice for the company.

Key areas of Responsibility include:

  1. Governance and Strategic Leadership
  2. Developing Partnerships
  3. Health and Safety
  4. Financial Management
  5. Human Resources

Key Relationships

The General Manager will develop and maintain effective relationships with the following:

  • The Chair and members of the Board of FCRS CLG
  • The staff of FCRS CLG
  • Relevant council officials and stakeholders.
  • The facility management operator assigned to the licensed facilities
  • All clients and customers of FCRS licensed facilities
  • Sporting bodies and other leisure centre operators with Fingal County and environs
  • Fingal Community Facilities Network

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will possess a relevant level 7 Degree or a minimum of 3 years’ experience in managing multipurpose facilities. An understanding of sports/leisure management is desirable but not essential.

Knowledge and Experience

  • Significant managerial experience of working in similar environment
  • Knowledge of organisational requirements, statutory and otherwise, including governance and compliance
  • Strong understanding of Health and Safety Management and Systems
  • Strong People Management (HR) experience
  • Expertise in change management
  • Experience in dealing with complex and challenging environments

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Strong IT skills – experience in the use of a range of online management systems
  • Problem solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Strong analytic and decision-making abilities
  • Must be a team player and able to work with and through others
  • Ability to influence others and move towards a common vision or goal

The successful candidate will be required to attend work in person unless otherwise approved by the board and will be required to hold a driving licence, as the work will necessitate travel at times.

Conditions of Employment

Contract duration

One year reviewable at 12 monthly intervals. Annual leave entitlement: 25 days
