Policy, Communications and Research Officer

The National Advocacy Service for People with Disabilities is seeking to recruit a Policy, Communications & Research Officer to cover maternity leave with an expected date of the 31st of December 2025. The post will be based in the NAS National Office in central Dublin.

NAS provides an independent, confidential and free representative advocacy service that works exclusively for people with disabilities. The service is person centred, accountable, accessible, impartial and independent of service providers, families and other supports.

The organisation has a particular remit for adults with disabilities who are isolated from their community and services, have communication differences, are inappropriately accommodated, live in residential services, attend day services and have limited informal or natural supports.

The National Advocacy Service is provided through four regions and a National Office which is based in Dublin.

The four regions are:

  • Greater Dublin, Dublin, Fingal and Wicklow
  • Northeast & Midlands Region, Cavan, Laois, Longford, Louth, Kildare, Meath, Monaghan, Offaly, Westmeath,
  • Western Region Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Limerick, Mayo, Roscommon, and Sligo.
  • Southern Region Carlow, Cork, Kerry, Kilkenny, Tipperary, Waterford, Wexford

Reports to: National Manager

Salary: €38,773 to €52,302 (including long service increments).

It is expected that all new entrants to NAS will be appointed at point one of the salary scale, however the NAS operates an incremental credit process for appointments higher than point one. This process is applicable to new entrants into NAS. Incremental credit criteria, based on the competencies for the role, are assessed against employment history as laid out in the application form only. A request for incremental credit from a successful candidate must be made within the first 3 months of employment.

Annual Leave: 24 days. After 2 years 25 days. After 5 years 26 days

Pension: NAS operations a company pension scheme, membership of which is mandatory upon commencement of employment. The company will contribute 7% of the salary and employees are required to contribute 5%.

Location: Dublin city centre

Hours: The position is full time (35 hours per week).

The position entails some travel; therefore access to use of a car is a requirement for the post.

The Policy, Communications & Research Officer will be asked to obtain Garda Clearance before they begin work.
