Title: Counsellor / Psychotherapist - Contract Position

Location: Kilkenny Rape Crisis Centre KASA, 1 Golf View Terrace, Kilkenny

Reporting to: Manager

Overall Purpose: 

To provide a one-to-one confidential counselling, support, information and education service to anyone aged over 14 years who has been impacted by any form of Sexual Violence at any time in their lives.

We are inviting any applicants who would be interested in working on a contract basis with the Kilkenny Rape Crisis Centre KASA to get in touch. Please see more details as follows-

Main Duties of the Role

  • To provide one-to-one counselling and support for clients of the service.
  • To provide telephone/online counselling and support for clients of the service and for relatives or friends impacted by Sexual Abuse.
  • To maintain up to date records of all counselling sessions on the services database.
  • To keep notes and data in line with Kilkenny Rape Crisis Centre’s policy.
  • Liaise and consult with other professionals and agencies where required.
  • To observe strict confidentiality in respect of all clients of the service.
  • To work as part of a whole team approach.
  • To maintain supervision in line with best practice and Kilkenny Rape Crisis Centre’s policy.
  • To participate in public awareness campaigns as appropriate.
  • Any other reasonable duty as requested by the Manager.

Skills / Competencies and / or Knowledge

  • Qualified counsellor, registered with IACP/IAHIP/ICP/BACP
  • Demonstrate sufficient professional / clinical knowledge to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
  • Demonstrate an ability to apply knowledge to best practice.
  • Demonstrate competence in delivering a professional and quality service.
  • Demonstrate the ability to plan and deliver counselling/psychotherapy in an effective and resourceful manner.
  • Ability to keep records and utilise information database.
  • Ability to work as part of a wider team.
  • Display dignity and respect at all times in dealing with clients.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Previous experience of working with survivors of Sexual Violence.
