Home-Start Blanchardstown: Co-ordinator for Volunteers / Family Liaison Person
Home-start Blanchardstown is a voluntary organisation in which volunteers offer regular support, friendship, and practical help to families with young children in their homes, helping to prevent family crisis and breakdown. Home-Start is available for any family where there is a least one child under the age of 5 years of age. In addition to supporting families in the home, Home-Start also provides a respite childcare service, which caters for children aged 4mths to 5.05 yrs. This crèche is an integral part of our Family Support service here at Home-Start Blanchardstown, where children are cared for, in a nurturing, caring, and learning environment by our very experienced qualified Early Years Educators.
About the Role:
Location: Home-Start Blanchardstown – 10 Blakestown Cottages, Blakestown Road, D15.
Position: Co-ordinator for Volunteers/Family Liaison Person
Qualification: Social Care Level 7/8
Salary: €720 fortnightly
Hours: 20hrs PW - 9am to 1.00pm (Flexibility is essential)
Reporting to: The Manager of the Home-Start Service/Board
Roles and Responsibilities
- Recruit, Interview, Train, and Support Volunteers
- Run Preparation Courses for Potential Volunteers
- Match Volunteer to Families
- Support Volunteers in Group support and one to one support
- Engage, liaise, and support families on a day-to-day basis.
- Liaise with referral agencies regarding referrals.
- Visit families with Manager to assess the needs of the children and the family.
- Being creative in organising Family Activities with a view to engaging parents in Family Mornings and other activities.
- Support and engage in the running of Parenting Courses / engage with parents to encourage attendance.
- Work alongside the Manager of the Service in relation to the Day to Day running of the service.
- Working and engaging with Home-Start world wide
Skills and experience required:
- Good Community Experience working with Families and relevant qualifications Level 7/8 in social care and experience would be of benefit to applicant
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must have empathic, compassionate, and caring skills.
- Must be able to manage emotive situations, to remain calm and respond appropriately.
- Ensure confidentiality – a priority for Home-Start
- Able to work on own initiative and a strong ability to work as part of a team.
- Proficient in using Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
- Good organisational and Admin Skills with careful attention to detail
- Must have clean driver’s license and be a car owner.
