FamiliBase are seeking to recruit a full time Youth Worker
1 Year Fixed Term Contract 35 hours per Week

FamiliBase is a centre for children, young people and families based in Dublin 10. FamiliBase has three strands of service delivery i.e. Early Years and Afterschool, Child and Family and Youth and Community. FamiliBase operates an integrated model of practice. Programme delivery in FamiliBase occurs at different levels i.e. from universal level to intensive wrap around for those with multiple or more complex needs. FamiliBase could be described as a ‘one stop shop’ of supports for children, young people and families.

Job Description

We are currently recruiting 1 youth work position. The position requires direct work with young people (aged 10-25) on a range of universal and targeted programmes. Multiple complex issues may impact upon the lives of this specific target group including poverty, early school leaving, mental health, criminal justice and family relationship issues. The successful candidate will have the capacity to assess the needs of service users and match their needs with the appropriate interventions and arrange input from other relevant agencies where necessary, respond to referrals with the appropriate supports required. The role requires working in a range of programmes and including one to one, group work and drop in services.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of key issues affecting the lives of young people in Cherry Orchard/ Ballyfermot
  • A passion to work with the most vulnerable young people in our Community
  • Creative and solution focussed practice
  • Self-starter with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • Undertake additional duties as required

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Planning, delivering and evaluation of youth work programmes
  • Advocating on behalf of young people
  • Identifying young people who would benefit from the involvement in youth work programmes and activities.
  • Maintain up to date records/ Admin in relation to programmes
  • Input and attend team & organisational meetings
  • Work on their own initiative and contribute as part of a team
  • Conduct themselves in a professional manner and represent organisations values

Essential Criteria

  • A professionally endorsed qualification in Youth and Community Work
    or an equivalent professional qualification plus two years full time experience of working with young people
  • Proven experience in working directly with young people and an understanding of the key issues facing young people in disadvantaged areas
  • Competency in planning, developing and delivering youth work programmes both one to one and in a group setting
  • Experience working in collaboration / conjunction with other organisations in the development and delivery of programmes, interventions and services
  • Commitment and flexibility to work evenings and weekends where required
  • Excellent organisational, administrative, communication, interpersonal skills
  • Highly driven individual competent working independently and as part of a team
  • High ethical standards with strong integrity.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
