37.5 hours per week.

Our centre is a small, well established, not for profit community childcare service. We have provided high quality, holistic education and care to children and their families in the locality for over 30 years. We pride ourselves on our child centred approach, which identifies children’s developmental needs which we then support and scaffold to help them learn and reach their full potential. To do this we employ the very best people who become experts at providing an exceptional childcare service.

We are currently looking to recruit a Childcare Practitioner (37.5 hours) in our sessional pre-school and part-time after school service located in Ballycragh. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Room Leader to use their skills and initiative in a dynamic service

The Childcare Practitioner will be responsible to ensure that the pre-school and after school services are run to the best possible standard supporting our ethos.

This position is aimed at a childcare professional who has achieved a minimum full level 6 recognised Qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education or higher (any applicants without this minimum qualification will not be considered for the role).

The successful candidate will be working alongside: The Manager, Room leader and other Childcare Practitioners in our small Pre-school and Afterschool service.

If you are applying for a full-time position, you must be available to work both morning and afternoon shifts.

The role will entail:

  • Working in partnership with other staff members to devise a child led emergent curriculum for the children attending both sessions.
  • Key working the pre-school children, documenting their development, and providing opportunities to extend their play to meet their developing needs.
    We provide non-contact time to facilitate this.
  • Organising collections and supervising children during the after-school collection.
  • Providing one to one help to the children with homework.
  • Supporting good respectful relationships with the children.
  • Facilitating play.
  • Supporting children’s interactions through, one to one time and small group activities.
  • Maintaining the environment.
  • Having excellent communication skills and fluent English.
  • Being available for work between 9.30 am and 6pm during term time and 9 am to 6pm during midterms and holidays.
  • Be able to work as part of a team and work off your own initiative.
  • Be able to document the activities, cleaning and general admin associated with the role.
