Safer Newbridge Project Team invite(s) quotes from suitably qualified candidates/organisations for the development & delivery of a programme of community events in Newbridge, Co. Kildare
Closing Date for Receipt of Quotes: 5th Sept 2025
PROJECT BACKGROUND & GOALS
The Safer Newbridge Initiative (‘the project’) was established following a successful funding application from to the national Community Safety Innovation Fund 2023.This emerged through a partnership between SURF, CYPSC, An Garda Síochána, local Public Representatives and Newbridge Community Development, with the support of Newbridge Forum.
The purpose of the initiative is to reduce and prevent anti-social behaviour and the associated fear of crime in Newbridge, addressing real and perceived risk.
EVENT DETAILS & TIMEFRAME
As part of the goals of community activation and developing dynamic, positive uses for the public spaces in the target area the project would like to facilitate the hosting of a number of community events in the area of Eyre St., Market Sq and Georges St. over the coming months.
We would envisage one event per month for the four months Sep-Dec 2025, inclusive. These will be one-off events but the hope is that they will serve as catalysts & inspiration for similar use of the space by the wider community beyond the timeframe of this specific project. Events will take place on Saturdays & Sundays (?).
These events could take the following form:
- September – food themed event, outdoor dining, involving local food businesses
- October – family friendly, Halloween themed event such as an outdoor film screening
- November - TBD
- December – a family friendly, Christmas themed event such as a Christmas craft market and Santa visit
Other themes/elements for consideration could be live music from local artists, play streets, creative collective art projects, community clean-ups/makeovers
TARGET AUDIENCE
The key target audience for the events generally are the local community of the project intervention area.
The wider Newbridge community – especially families, young people and older residents - is also a target audience.
It would be very positive to involve local service providers & businesses, performers & artists and local community groups in the events wherever possible.
Key community members would be local schools & youth groups, residents associations in the vicinity, & local business community.
