Contract: Specific Purpose contract - Maternity leave cover until March 2026

Salary: €27,740.06 - €42,877.87 (Pro Rata for 30 hours per week)

What’s the role and service?

We are looking for an experienced Project Worker to join our team in our Tivoli Family Support and Early Years’ Service. The primary purpose of this role is to develop and implement programmes that respond to the needs of children and families referred to the service working in partnership with families and other organisational, community and voluntary bodies.

What will my day to day look like?

  • Assessing the needs of the children and the families engaging with the project
  • Delivering evidence based parenting programmes at individual or group level with an understanding of and commitment to a trauma informed approach
  • Keeping up to date on relevant services available within the catchment area of Dun Laoghaire and making support referrals as appropriate
  • Planning, implementing and reviewing programmes for children/young people / carers / families based on an assessment of their individual and group needs
  • Participating in Meitheal processes and working as crisis response to support Early Years’ team when issues present
  • Liaising effectively with families and other statutory, community and voluntary bodies and to attend and contribute to reviews and case conferences as required
  • Working in partnership with other Barnardos services to best meet the needs of children and families by collaborating resources with planned interventions targeting groups/families of shared need

What experience do I need?

  • A minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification experience of working with vulnerable children and families
  • Planning, implementing and reviewing programmes with children and/or families
  • Up to date knowledge on evidenced informed thinking with regard to interventions for children and families on an individual and group level
  • Experience assessing children’s and families’ needs/ Preparing comprehensive needs led reports on children and families
  • Understanding of Meitheal processes is highly advantageous

Do I need a qualification?

Yes, to be considered for this role you will hold a recognised third level practice qualification (minimum Level 7 on the QQI) in one of the following:

  • Social Care / Education / Social Work / Youth Work / Early Childhood Care and Education or related discipline (Nursing, Psychology, Early Years’ Education).

Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with CORU as a Social Care Worker. This includes those currently in the process of registration under CORU’s transitional arrangements (grandparenting route). Candidates who meet the eligibility criteria but have not yet completed registration are encouraged to apply. However, you will be required to provide proof of registration or evidence they have initiated the application process.

A Full driving licence and access to the use of a suitably insured vehicle essential.

The post-holder is initially assigned to work in the Tivoli Project but may be required in the future to work in other locations in the Dublin area in line with Organisational needs.
