New micro-credential module: Working with People of Refugee Background
UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work & Social Justice and the Irish Refugee Council are delighted to be collaborating on a new micro-credential course - Working with people of Refugee Background.
This is a 5-credit, flexible module aiming to help those working with refugees, international protection applicants & recipients of temporary protection to better understand the experiences and circumstances of people of refugee background, particularly within the Irish context. The module is likely to be of interest to a range of individuals including people working in IPAS centres or in centres for separated children, those working on Local Authority Integration Teams, people working and volunteering in NGOs and community groups, amongst others.
It will involve a mix of in-person and online classes, with the possibility of joining the in-person classes remotely. It will commence on September 4th 2025.
The cost of the microcredential is €650. We have a HEA-funded subsidy of 50% for eligible learners (reducing the cost to €325): this subsidy will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Therefore, while applications are open until the 11th of August, we urge people to apply early.
In addition, the UCD School of Social Policy, Social Work and Social Justice is supporting a number of free-fee bursaries for people volunteering with refugees, international protection applicants or recipients of temporary protection in recognition of the important work done by volunteers all over the country. Bursary recipients will be selected at random.
