About Hurling for Cancer Research – Proudly Supported by Centra
Hurling for Cancer Research was founded in 2011 by Jim Bolger and Davy Russell when Jim challenged Davy and his colleagues to a hurling match to raise funds for cancer research.
Since then, the event has helped raise almost €1.7 Million towards an overall investment from the Irish Cancer Society of €30 Million in life-changing clinical trials and cutting-edge cancer research studies. Each year the Society funds over 100 cancer researchers across Ireland, thanks to the support of events such as Hurling For Cancer Research.
This year we are thrilled to have Centra as the official partner for 2025. Centra’s support will help make this year’s event a huge success, driving us towards our €2 million fundraising milestone.
“Hurling for Cancer represents the best of both worlds: passion on the pitch and hope in homes across Ireland.”
— Luke Hanlon, Managing Director, Centra
“We’re excited to have Centra on board and their support will be key in reaching our €2 million goal.”
— Jim Bolger, Co-Founder, Hurling for Cancer Research
