Help empower young people in Ballymun with Conflict Management skills
About us

We are committed to ensuring that access to justice is available to the people of Ballymun and we work towards an inclusive community based around equal human rights and social justice. See www.bclc.ie for more information on our work.
About Peer Mediation
As part of our mediation services, we offer a Conflict Management and Peer Mediation programme for primary schools. The two-part programme is designed for 5th class and teaches students how to better manage and resolve conflicts, as well as how to mediate conflicts amongst themselves. Peer Mediation is a process where two students act as mediators to help others discuss how they feel, identify problems and reach agreement on how to resolve situations and move forward.
We are currently recruiting volunteers to deliver the first part of our programme in primary schools in Ballymun. This programme introduces the concepts and skills of Conflict Management to 5th class students.
What we ask
Volunteers attend our Conflict Management and Peer Mediation training which takes place over two days in November.
Volunteers commit to delivering a 7-week programme, with 1hr 30 min sessions during the school day, once a week, during the January to June school term.
Volunteers will be available to facilitate training in the school they are assigned to (all schools will be Ballymun schools).
Volunteers are required to go through a Garda Vetting process before commencing work in the schools. Volunteers must take the Children First training before commencing. https://www.tusla.ie/children-first/children-first-e-learning-programme/
Volunteers sign the Ballymun Community Law Centre volunteer agreement.
Volunteers are expected to communicate availability ahead of time and when assigned to a school do their best to honour their commitment.
