Meitheal Mara

Meitheal Mara (meh-hal ma-ra) translates roughly as ”Workers of the Sea”. Meitheal can be translated as “community” and Mara literally means “of the sea” in Irish. Founded in 1993, Meitheal Mara is a community boatyard in the heart of Cork City, a registered charity and training centre. Our primary object is to grow and integrate Cork city’s maritime recreation and tourism sector at a purpose built river-side site.

Mining Heritage Ireland is a site for people with an interest in Irish mining heritage. It follows on the work of the Mining Heritage Trust of Ireland that closed down in 2019. The general promotion of awareness, appreciation and conservation of the mining heritage of Ireland.

The Fire Station Artists Studio
