Location: Hybrid / Ireland-based
Time Commitment: Approx. 6–8 hours per month
About AdVIC
AdVIC is a national charity established for the benefit of those who have lost a family member through death resulting from homicide, in particular by assisting in raising awareness and provision of services to support families of the victims of homicide such as counselling, dissemination of information, education and training.
We are now seeking new committee members to join our passionate, experienced team and help guide the future direction of our work.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds who are aligned with our mission and values. In particular, we are seeking individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Legal / Criminal Justice (e.g., solicitors, barristers, retired law enforcement, criminologists)
- Mental Health & Trauma Support (e.g., psychologists, grief counselors, therapists)
- Nonprofit Governance (e.g., board leadership, compliance, fundraising, strategic planning)
- Communications & Advocacy (e.g., media relations, campaigning, storytelling, digital strategy)
- Lived Experience – individuals or family members personally affected by violent crime (with appropriate support)
- Administration
Prior board or committee experience is welcome but not required.
Your Role Will Include:
- Attending monthly committee meetings (hybrid via Microsoft Teams or in-person)
- Contributing your expertise to strategic decisions and planning
- Advocating for and upholding the rights and dignity of victims and families
- Supporting fundraising and communications efforts (as appropriate to your skills)
- Helping shape policy recommendations and public awareness campaigns
- Helping schedule, plan and execute events (e.g. National Meeting with VSE, Memorial Service, AGM)
