University College Cork: Bursaries available for Certificate in Mental Health in the Community
Mental Health Ireland’s Tony Leahy Bursary offers up to 50% funding for eligible students on this 1-year, part-time, Level 6 Certificate. This part-time course is designed for people involved in their communities who want to deepen their understanding of mental health, wellbeing, and recovery. Classes are online and there are two in-person workshops.
Priority is given to people with lived experience, family members, and supporters. Special category bursaries of up to 100% are available for members of the Traveller and Roma communities, international protection applicants/holders, those with Discretionary Leave to Remain, and people experiencing homelessness. Fully-Funded part-time Certificate in Mental Health in the Community in Cork
Cork City Partnership, in collaboration with Adult Continuing Education (ACE), UCC, is offering a fully funded part-time Certificate in Mental Health in the Community. This programme explores what supports people in their personal recovery from mental health difficulties and looks at educational and community-based options for wellbeing and recovery. Participants will also examine key concepts in mental health, contemporary issues, and best practices in recovery-focused approaches. This course is fully funded by Cork City Partnership’s Social Inclusion and Community Activation Programme.
Course Schedule:
- In-person classes: Wednesdays, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
- Online tutorials: Tuesdays, 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m.
- Two full-day workshops will also be scheduled.
The course will commence on October 1st in Churchfield/Blackpool.
Eligibility Criteria:
Open to individuals aged 21+ who live in in Cork City Local Authority Boundary. Participants will be asked to demonstrate eligibility which may include:
People living in disadvantaged communities, people impacted by educational disadvantage, people living in jobless households or households where the primary source is low paid and/or precarious, people who are long term unemployed, International Protection Applicants, people with disabilities, heads of one-parent families, Travellers, Roma, people with a criminal history, refugees
