Oesophageal Cancer Fund: Administrative Volunteer

Oesophageal Cancer Fund logos

About our organisation

Established in 2001 the Oesophageal Cancer Fund (OCF) is a small Irish charity with a big local network. We support people diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer, and their families, through our Patient Support Programme. We raise awareness so that people know the signs and symptoms of Oesophageal Cancer and can act fast as early detection increases the rates of survival. We also fund innovative, life-saving research which focuses on early detection, improved diagnostics and personalised treatment approaches. This includes the National Barrett’s Registry and Biobank as Barrett’s Oesophagus can be a pre-curser to this cancer, and diagnosing and monitoring Barrett’s can save lives.

Lollipop Day is our annual fundraising and awareness campaign which we hold in February each year. During Lollipop Day our volunteers take to the streets all over Ireland to raise much needed funds for OCF and to hold conversations with the public about this difficult cancer, thus increasing awareness and prompting those with symptoms to recognise them and get checked out.
