Main Responsibilities
The community development and participation manager is responsible for facilitating; promoting and managing the Africa Solidarity Centre Ireland’s community participation programme to ensure the African diaspora communities, their allies and migrants in general are fully involved in community’s activities, political, social and economic aspects of life in Ireland.
Primary responsibilities
- Coordinate community participation activities in order to identify and establish community development opportunities for the African diaspora communities, migrants and their host in Ireland, but first have targeted regional activities in a few towns and cities as Galway, Limerick, Waterford, Longford, Kilkenny, Cork and County Dublin …
- Facilitate the development of a community participation activities
- Supervise the Community activities and Support the youth development and participation officer and agree on terms of work and activities
- Supervise the Youth Development and agree on activities of the Intercultural Youth Society
- Network with other stakeholders working with refugees, migrants and asylum seekers in Ireland
- Facilitate the community participation working group and serve as the chair and convener of the working group
- Secure funding for community participation activities
- Working with the chairperson and other staff and volunteers, lead research on private and public sector community funding opportunities for the work of the regional working groups
- Consult with funders and government representatives concerning eligibility requirements for funding
- Prepare proposals for funding to support community participation activities
- Plan activities that will promote the integration of the African diaspora in Ireland at all levels
- Work with other staff and volunteers to plan Africa Day activities, the Africa Diaspora Development Forum, Annual Lectures and other activities if necessary
Prepare materials on community participation for the Africa Centre website, Facebook and other social media - Liaise with private and government sector representatives to promote entrepreneurial interventions for the African Centre Ireland’s members, communities and partners in consultation with regional working groups
- Work with other staff and volunteers to plan Africa Day activities, the Africa Diaspora Development Forum, Annual Lectures and other activities if necessary
- Perform other related duties as required
