We are seeking suitably qualified candidates preferably located in the West of Ireland to facilitate engagement with management and periodic in-person Board meetings.

Helplink Mental Health (www.helplink.ie) provides a range of accessible counselling, information and educational mental health services. In addition to offering a comprehensive online counselling service, we provide in-person mental health counselling services via a panel of qualified professional counsellors in Galway & Mayo. In 2024, we delivered over 9,000 counselling sessions under a variety of headings including couples, youth, addiction, bereavement and general counselling. As well as play and art therapy.

The Role:

Helplink is now looking to expand its Board of Directors. The Board roles are voluntary and expectations of Board members / Trustees are as follows:

  • Members are required to become Directors of the Company.
  • You will regularly attend Board meetings – sharing your knowledge and skill. Board meetings are 10 times a year + AGM and are a mix of in-person (in Galway) and remote.
  • You will commit to participating actively in committees including initiating and accepting strategic assignments, and will build effective relationships with other Board Members to ensure the successful operation of the Board.

Essential Skills/Experience for this role: 

  • Qualified & Accredited Counsellor/Psychotherapist/Counselling Psychologist or Clinical Psychologist
  • At least 5 years Clinical practice experience
  • Clinical Supervision qualification and experience is desirable but not essential
  • A deep understanding and/or experience working/volunteering in the mental health service delivery in the non-profit/voluntary/community sector

The successful candidate will: 

  • Support and oversee continuous quality improvement of Service Delivery
  • Ensure Clinical Policies and Procedures meet legal, regulatory, ethical and best practice standards Provide support and advice to the board and management on emergent clinical governance issues
  • Act as deputy DLP in absence of staff member who acts as DLP
