Quitting Together with Pride: A dialogue on tobacco cessation in the LGBTQ+ community

Many smokers who identify as LGBTQ+ want to quit, but often struggle to do so, possibly due to barriers like nicotine dependence, targeted marketing of tobacco and nicotine products, stress induced by prejudice and discrimination, and difficulty accessing compassionate health services.

Evaluation of Focus Ireland’s Women’s Outlook Programme

This event launches the evaluation of the Women’s Outlook programme (Outlook), operated by Focus Ireland in collaboration with the Irish Prison and Irish Probation services. Outlook, established in 2019, focuses on preventing homelessness and recidivism among female offenders by providing temporary accommodation and holistic, trauma-informed support.

Record high number of candidates of a migrant background running in the June local elections

This year’s local elections see a significant increase in the number of candidates of a migrant background running. In the 2019 local elections there were 56 migrant candidates, however the Immigrant Council of Ireland has identified over 100 candidates of a migrant background running in the upcoming local elections on 7th June.
