Music Network: Board Members
Open Call for Expressions of Interest in joining the Board of Directors of Music Network
Would you like to contribute to the future of music in Ireland?
Music Network is seeking new board members. This is an exciting opportunity to diversify our governing body and ensure that we have the skills we need to successfully guide our organisation.
We’re looking for people who want to contribute to our work in making high quality live music accessible to communities across Ireland and helping musicians to develop fulfilling careers. We enrich many aspects of music making across the country, bringing people together through the magic of live performance and supporting musicians to excel as creators and performers.
To support our growth and strengthen our organisational capacity and sustainability, we are actively seeking new perspectives to ensure our board better reflects the diversity of Irish society. We warmly welcome applications from individuals from backgrounds and communities that are traditionally under-represented in music.
Music Network is principally funded by the Arts Council.
Role of Board Members
Directors of the board are both company directors and charity trustees and should understand the legal duties of the role, as explained by the Charities Regulator and the Arts Council’s Practical Guide for Board Members of Arts Organisations. Directors are responsible for the strategic direction of the organisation and for ensuring the highest standards of governance are upheld, in accordance with the Charities Governance Code.
Directors are responsible for the financial sustainability of the organisation and for supporting its fundraising efforts, for example through joining the Development Sub-committee, making introductions or championing its work to relevant contacts.
Board members are elected for a 3-year term, renewable up to a maximum of 9 years. Music Network is a registered charity and this is a voluntary, unpaid position. The Board of Music Network meets 6-7 times annually, including the AGM. Board members are expected to contribute to the ongoing development of the organisation and to attend Music Network events where possible. We welcome applications from people with previous board or trustee experience but this is not essential.
