Communications and Social Media Assistant – Volunteer Position

At Books at One, we are more than simply a place to buy books – we are a social, cultural, and creative hub for people of all ages to come together through stories. A social enterprise intentionally situated in areas of social disadvantage and rural isolation; Books at One encompasses a network of local bookshops that transform the act of reading into a powerful tool for community connection.

We now have an exciting opportunity for a volunteer to support our three community bookshops in communicating our story through social media in a creative and engaging manner.

This role involves:

  • managing all Books at One social media channels
  • establishing new social media channels
  • researching and creating content for social media channels
  • updating our website and online shop
  • creating newsletters for our supporters and customers
  • exploring innovative ways to drive footfall and online sales
  • assisting at events, book launches and workshops

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A love of reading and an interest in the book industry
  • Ability to travel to our shop in Dublin
  • Commitment to Books at One values
  • Ability to work within Books at One policies and shop guidelines
  • Experience of using Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok, WordPress, YouTube, LinkedIn
  • Good written and visual communication skills
  • Ability to think creatively
  • Ability to deal in a professional manner when communicating online
  • All volunteers must agree to Garda Vetting
