Corporate Philanthropy in Ireland Resilient Amid Global Uncertainties

New Figures confirm major contribution of corporates
Statement by Community Foundation Ireland and Business In the Community Ireland
Corporate philanthropy continues to thrive in Ireland, despite global challenges, according to insights shared at a national gathering of sector leaders in Dublin.
‘Philanthropy in Action: Achieving Social Impact’ brought together leaders in policy, business and communities to discuss current and emerging trends. The special event was hosted by two organisations, Community Foundation Ireland and Business in the Community Ireland which are marking 25-years of supporting local communities.
New figures released by the Community Foundation show that corporate and business partners provided more than €55 Million in grants between 2020-2024 alone – accounting for over a third of all grants issued in the organisation’s 25-year history.
Business in the Community identified an alignment of corporate giving with overall corporate goals as a trend which is benefitting communities.
Denise Charlton, Chief Executive, Community Foundation Ireland said
“What is striking is that even with current global uncertainties companies of all sizes remain committed to giving back and are seeing benefits in many ways. In fact this form of giving is growing. They are actively contributing to the strengthening of local communities, increasing brand loyalty and boosting employee engagement. An increasing number of companies are embracing this approach—offering real hope for continued growth in giving.”
Tomas Sercovich, CEO, Business in the Community Ireland said “There has been a significant shift in corporate giving over the past 25 years as it is now more aligned with corporate goals. Being strategically embedded into the fabric of an organisation has enhanced its effectiveness and accelerated its impact. Corporate philanthropy is a powerful agent of change as it has a positive ripple effect across the communities it supports. Regardless of the current external geopolitical pressures that is diluting efforts to progress social inclusion, we hope the growth in corporate philanthropy continues into the future. We are proud to be celebrating with our sister organisation Community Foundation Ireland the achievements gained so far.”
