Who we are:

Established by the Religious Sisters of Charity in 1879, the Hospice in Harold’s Cross was opened in response to the healthcare needs of the community.

Today, Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services (OLH&CS) provides specialist care for a catchment of over a million people with a wide range of needs, from residential rehabilitation to end-of- life care, from our bases in Harold’s Cross, Blackrock (est. 2003) and Wicklow (est. 2020).

Tasks

  • Sunflower Day is a national fundraising event for hospices in Ireland and takes place this year on Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June 2024.

    As a Hospice Sunflower Days Community Organiser, you will be tasked with the following:

    Identifying and recruiting local volunteers to help in the delivery of Hospice Sunflower Days. Volunteers could include family, friends, local students or members of your local clubs. Our Lady’s Hospice & Care Services can also help with volunteer recruitment in the lead up to Hospice Sunflower Days.
  • Organising a volunteer roster for the day indicating times and locations that need to be filled.
  • Identifying and suggesting possible high foot fall locations within your local area in which to set up Hospice Sunflower Days on street collections.
  • Distribution of Hospice Sunflower Days stock to volunteer locations on Hospice Sunflower Days.
  • Supervising your local activities on Hospice Sunflower Days (Friday 7th June and Saturday 8th June 2024) and supporting your volunteers as is needed.
  • Collecting, counting and lodging all funds raised throughout the day at your local bank or post office.

Locations of collections across South Dublin and County Wicklow:

  • Dublin City Centre
  • All area postcodes south of the Liffey
  • Dun Laoghaire/ Rathdown
  • Various locations in South County Dublin
  • Wicklow • Street locations • Shopping centre locations • Churches

What’s required:

  • Strong organisational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Good connections in your local community
  • Good communication skills
  • A can-do attitude
  • A desire to make a difference
  • Full clean driving licence would be beneficial but not essential
    • Event management/ Fundraising
    • Personable Skills
