About Midlands LGBT+ Project

Midlands LGBT+ Project, operating under Youth Work Ireland Laois, was establised in 2021 due to demand for an adults LGBT+ service in the Midlands. The service aims to reduce isolation and increase a sense of community for LGBT+ people in the Midlands and does this through events, advocacy services, 1:1 support, support and social groups. They cover a geographical area of Laois, Offaly, Westmeatha and Kildare.

Details:

Responsibilities of Steering Board Members will include the following:

• To assist with grant applications and explore opportunities for further funding
• To assist in developing new partnerships with the objective of developing sources of sustainable funding
• To attend our Board Meetings (every 8 weeks) and annual AGM
• Participate in ad hoc sub groups as needed.
• To give a minimum of 1 year commitment
• To adhere to Board Members’ code of conduct and policies

Skills and Qualities required are

• A strong interest in the LGBT+ rights, community development and social inclusion in the Midlands
• A strong communicator
• Excellent networking skills and ability to maintain working relationships
• Proactive attitude, drive, enthusiasm and initiative
• Honesty, integrity, reliability, commitment and time keeping
• A proven team player

If you have an interest in LGBT+ Community Development, please forward your CV and a short note on what you can offer as a steering board member in our organisation. All training will be provided however experience in finance, HR, governance, fundraising would be an advantage.
