The Institute of Volunteer Leadership (IVL) is an initiative jointly designed by Volunteer Ireland and Volunteer Now. It aims to unite leaders of volunteers on the Island of Ireland, whether paid or unpaid, to create a vibrant network of peer support, knowledge sharing, and personal and professional development.

IVL is designed to be a membership based professional group for leaders of volunteers. Members of IVL are envisaged to be individuals rather than organisations.

IVL envisions a future where leaders of volunteers can advocate for the true value of volunteering, feel well resourced and supported in their own roles, pursue formal and accredited training qualifications that reflect their expertise, and inspire people at all levels of their organisations to recognise and celebrate the work of volunteers.

Following a pilot period, this initiative is now at a development phase, and we are curious to learn about how different leaders in volunteering see themselves engaging with the IVL in practice and what they would find most useful.
