Voluntary Service International (VSI)

Voluntary Service International (VSI) is the Irish branch of Service Civil International (SCI), a world-wide movement working for peace and international understanding through the medium of voluntary work, international exchanges and awareness programmes.

VSI was founded in 1965 after several projects in the years before. Since then VSI has undertaken a wide variety of voluntary and community work throughout Ireland and has sent volunteers to similar projects in over 50 countries of the world.

Volunteer Abroad

Volunteer Abroad provides opportunities for Irish residents to work on community-based projects in several developing countries. This programme is open to people over the age of 18 who are motivated and have a desire to learn.

Volunteer Abroad is run by EIL Intercultural Learning who are a non-profit organisation that aim to promote global understanding.

Volunteering Options Programme (Comhlámh)

Volunteering Options programme (set up by Comhlámh in 2004 and funded by Development Cooperation Ireland) was established in response to the growing interest among the Irish public in volunteering overseas in developing countries for short periods of anything up to a year. Comhlámh has provided advice and orientation for people interested in overseas development work for over 30 years.

In recent times, we have seen an increasing demand for our services from people who are interested in shorter term volunteering.

The Waterford One World Centre is a Development Education resource centre.

The Centre was established in 1990 in response to the need to provide access to development information and education materials for the people of Waterford.

Our mission is to work in partnership with the local community to educate and empower people to take action on global issues of social justice and human dignity.
