DORAS

Invitation to Tender for Learning Designer

Deadline: 10/02/23

ABOUT DORAS:

Doras is an independent, non-profit, non-governmental organisation working to promote and protect human rights since the year 2000. Our core areas of work include Direct Support, Advocacy & Campaigns and Integration Planning.

ABOUT SAORED:

SaorEd is a free online education platform for international protection applicants, refugees, and other underserved communities in Ireland. Learners can access hundreds of courses on the platform, including English lessons and IT skill booster programmes.

Summary

Doras invites tender submissions from interested Learning Designers to undertake the development of online interactive courses from existing content.

The first of these courses will be developed from a transformative human rights education project that aims to strengthen self-advocacy and leadership skills, increase community participation, and improve understanding of rights and opportunities around employment, social welfare, housing and education. This project is supported by the Irish Human Rights and Equality Commission under the Human Rights and Equality Grant Scheme.

The overall aim is to provide a modern, visually appealing, and user friendly education resource about human rights for international protection applicants and refugees in Ireland which is interactive.

It is envisaged that the content will be available by February with guidance in place for different types of course elements desired. We hope to be able to launch the new course by June 2023.

We welcome applicants to propose a budget for the position.

Course Requirements

The key outputs of the first project will be a series of interactive education resources and modules for in-person and online use. These will be hosted on our SaorEd online learning platform through an external link.

The Learning Designer will need to produce approximately eight learning modules relating to employment, social welfare, housing, and education rights based on content provided by Doras. Each module is anticipated to last 3-4 hours. The courses should have an enhanced design and navigation, prioritise accessibility, and be optimised for mobile phone use. We will also provide a clear wireframe structure for the provision of text, imagery and video content. It is also envisaged that the content will be translated into multiple languages.

Tender Requirements

We require interested parties to provide us with a proposal in MS Word of PDF format that includes the following information:

  • Proposed approach to developing series of courses based on provided material
  • Contractor/company background and achievements
  • Key project personnel and experience
  • Portfolio samples of relevant previous work
  • Proposed timelines
  • Information on proposed fee including VAT

Completed tenders covering all headings outlined above should be sent to k.mccarthy@doras.org with ‘Learning Technologist’ in the subject.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us via k.mccarthy@doras.org with any queries.
