A Request for Proposals for Family Liaison Officer

Scope of this work

Sunbeam House Services is seeking to engage a Family Liaison Officer for a contract for services.

Key Outputs:

Facilitate ongoing dialogue between Sunbeam House Services (SHS) and client families on outstanding issues arising from quality reports and external reviews, with the objective of bringing these issues to a conclusion.

Assist both parties in ensuring complaints are resolved amicably, engaging with other stakeholders where necessary.

Build a strong foundation for moving forward by supporting both parties to develop a framework for future engagement and opportunities for collaboration.

Identify skills gaps and provide necessary coaching in relation to communication style in areas such as conflict resolution, managing expectations and productive consultation.

Ensure relevant learnings are captured and necessary changes are implemented effectively.

On successful completion of this contract, the requirement for the role will be redundant as parties re-establish trust and define the parameters of a positive and respectful relationship.

The Consultant:

The ideal person will be an independent, neutral consultant, capable of building trusting and proactive relationships between both parties.

They will balance the ability to understand people and respect their feelings and emotions with a solution focused and pragmatic approach.

They will demonstrate an ability to find dynamic and creative solutions when needed.

They should have an interest in social inclusion and the provision of services to and for people based on Personal Outcomes principles of: Basic Assurances, Shared Values, Responsive Services and Community Life.

This contract may be suited to a qualified mediator with an understanding of value driven, not-for-profit organisations.


This contract will be for a period of six months, from the date of commencement. We anticipate an average of 2 days per week, no more than 52 days in total.

They will report to the CEO and will be required to meet with and report to the board on a bi-monthly basis using both quantitative and qualitative metrics.
