We are seeking and experienced Operations Manager to join our Senior Management Team. Reporting to our CEO (Chief Executive Officer), it is a busy role with a wide span of diverse responsibilities. We are seeking an experienced professional with strong operational and leadership experience, who can operate in both a hands-on and a strategic manner.

You will lead a team to provide high quality corporate support to all areas of the organisation, the CEO and the Board. You will oversee all aspects of administration, HR, procurement, facilities management, event management, learner recruitment, communication, business development and IT. The Operations Manager will also, on occasion, personally provide confidential administrative support directly to the CEO and Board.

The candidate will have a proactive approach and encourage strong team bonds with high standards of privacy and respect to deliver comprehensive organisational support to all areas of An Cosán, whilst continually employing a results focussed and process improvement mindset.

Probation: 9 months
Salary range: €55 – €65K commensurate with experience.
Location: Tallaght, Co Dublin
Direct Reports: Admin team, HR, IT/CRM, Grant writer and Business Development, Communication and Information

An Cosán

An Cosán (Irish for ‘The Path’) is Ireland’s largest community education organisation. We seek to bring about social equality and an end to poverty through community-based adult education, the provision of early years supports, wrap around counselling services, and empowering social enterprise development. Over the past three decades, we have supported over 20,000 people to reach new pathways to empowerment via community education and development. Using innovative technology to deliver virtual access to its range of learning programmes An Cosán now reaches communities across Ireland. Under our ambitious new strategy “Vision 2026: Transforming Lives Together” we plan to transform the lives of another 20,000 people in the next five years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, motivate, support and direct corporate support teams, setting high standards and ensuring resources are appropriately planned and allocated to support organisational goals and the delivery of quality services.
  • Ensure the smooth running of all areas of corporate services covering administration, HR, procurement, facilities management, event management, learner recruitment, communications, grant writing and business development and IT.
  • Develop new systems to support service delivery, monitoring and learning including introduction of a new CRM and data management system.
  • Act as the go-to person for all organisational support needs and delegate as appropriate.
  • Partner with the teams in service areas to streamline and improve processes and recruit and develop staff ensuring efficiency and optimum learner and staff satisfaction.
  • Budgetary responsibility for defined areas of authority
  • Provide strategic input as a full member of the Senior Management Team.
  • Lead on corporate policies including organisational adherence to GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) requirements.
  • Oversee learner recruitment and programme marketing.
  • Through open communication, facilitate and encourage high performance and a culture of collaboration, whilst developing capability and capacity.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the CEO.

Requirements

Essential

  • Minimum 5 years leading a corporate team with proven leadership and strong coaching and motivational skills.
  • A relevant qualification in Business Administration, HR, or related area.
  • Extensive HR, corporate services, office and administration management experience with a wide span of organisational responsibilities.
  • Experience of working at a senior level supporting leadership and governance processes.
  • Exceptional communications skills, both verbal and written and skilled in building relationships and networks, both internal and external.
  • Self-starter with a process improvement mindset.
  • Good financial knowledge with prior experience of managing departmental budgets.

Desirable

  • Experience working in a not-for-profit organisation
  • Affinity with our mission in engaging learners and communities in realising their potential as equal members of a socially just society.
