Position Summary:

Holocaust Education Ireland seeks to appoint a full-time Administrator to assist in the general administration of its busy office.

Holocaust Education Ireland is a small, vibrant, independent non-profit organisation that promotes Holocaust education, awareness and remembrance throughout the island of Ireland. Programmes for schools, teachers and the general public range from small bespoke courses, to large public events such as the Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration.

The successful candidate will be expected to assist the Board and work closely with the administrative staff in co-ordinating the administration of the office and all of the activities undertaken by the organisation. The importance of continuous professional development within the role should be considered.

Responsibilities:

  • Carry out comprehensive secretarial and administrative duties to ensure the smooth running of the Holocaust Education Ireland office. These include dealing with email and telephone enquiries, taking minutes, and arranging appointments and meetings.
  • Work alongside the Senior Administrator to administer Holocaust Education Ireland’s education and outreach programmes.
  • Assist in the co-ordination of the national Holocaust Memorial Day commemoration.
  • Assist in the coordination and administration of The Crocus Project.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders on long-term projects and events.
  • Administration and management of records and databases. Including filing and updating records in the office and on Dropbox.
  • Social media and website management. Updating the website, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn and Facebook.
  • Keep expenditure records, ensuring the office maintains good bookkeeping standards.
  • Compliance with GDPR.
  • Prepared to undertake professional training when appropriate.
  • Prepared to attend meetings and seminars when appropriate.
  • Prepared to undertake other duties as appropriate.
  • As many of Holocaust Education Ireland’s programmes and events take place at weekends or in the evenings, a flexible approach to organising these is appreciated, taking time off in lieu when they occur.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Third-level qualification.
  • Understanding of the history of the Holocaust is an advantage but not essential.
  • Excellent IT skills particularly in Excel and other MS office tools.
  • Social media management experience.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Organised and analytical approach to tasks.
  • Flexible and adaptable.
