Dublin City University Office of Student Life logo

We’re the opposite of corporate. We’re progressive and passionate people working to make a difference in a fun and professional environment. It's an exciting time to join us. We're a small but mighty team working towards creating an extraordinary experience that ensures students love their time in Dublin City University and create memories that last a lifetime. Our Peer Mentoring Programme, Elevate, has become an essential cornerstone of the first-year student experience. Peer mentoring plays a pivotal role in nurturing a sense of belonging and fostering a supportive and inclusive campus community. Stepping foot into a university can be a daunting experience, especially for new students who find themselves in uncharted territory.

We're looking for someone to take the lead on the programme and take it to the next level. You'll be the driving force behind an invaluable peer support system, empowering students to navigate the complexities of university life with ease. By designing and implementing innovative peer-to-peer initiatives, you will have the opportunity to foster a connected community that encourages personal growth, academic excellence, and holistic development. Ultimately, you will help embed sense of belonging amongst our new students all whilst increasing student success and retention rates.

We're on the hunt for someone who is proactive, displays a strong initiative, with a passion for higher education and/or working with students, is ready to hit the ground running, and, most importantly, reflects our values.

We hope that:

  • you might have a couple of years of experience (2 or 3) in either a similar role or a similar organisation
  • you'll have experience in working with students or volunteers and volunteer management
  • you'll have previous success in project planning and implementation, and the ability to work effectively in partnership with both internal and external stakeholders
  • you'll understand the current themes in higher education and have the willingness to research best practice contributing to successful transitions to third level education
  • you'll be comfortable conducting training needs analysis and designing and delivering training for students
