Summary:  Kilcormac Development Association Ltd. is a community based company providing vital community services to the entire community through the Community Services Programme. The KDA work with the whole community through St. Joseph’s Community Centre to ensure that services are accessible, affordable and relevant to the local community. Reporting to: Project Manager

Working Hours: 39 hours

Contract: 6-month Maternity Leave cover commencing in February.

Location: Kilcormac

Primary Duties: Tasks will include but not limited to:


  • To work under the direction of the PM to provide an efficient administrative service to ensure that the Community Centre’s activities are managed on a day-to-day basis
  • In collaboration with the PM, management of the Community Services Programme through St. Joseph’s Community Centre.
  • In collaboration with the PM, management of Community Projects undertaken by the Kilcormac Development Association on behalf of the community.
  • Work in close collaboration with many volunteers and relevant agencies to ensure these projects from initiation to completion.
  • Monitor and seek grant applications where applicable for St. Joseph’s Community Services to improve the range of services we can provide.
  • Management of staff time sheets and records.
  • Oversee all bookings and enquiries over the telephone and in person for room and hall rental in conjunction with the Administrator.
  • Monitor the needs of the Community and the services that can be provided through the CSP (e.g. Needs Analysis, Community Action Plan)
  • Work on the Business Plans and planning activities appropriate for the Pobal contract.
  • Oversee the co-ordination of the Meals on Wheels Service.
  • Ensure compliance with necessary Health & Safety standards and work practices, GDPR etc and upskill as required.


  • Keeping and compilation of up-to-date financial records for the centre including working on the Pobal financial returns with the PM.
  • Manage financial procedures daily as they arise such as cheque payments, wages etc. which includes use of packages including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SAGE Accounts and Micropay.


  • In conjunction with the Administrator and the PM, monitor and update the social media used by the company such as Facebook and Instagram.
  • Assist with coordinating events.
  • Oversee the production of the monthly newsletter ‘The Rambler’ in conjunction with the Administrator.


  • Manage Administrator and Caretaker on duty to ensure efficient running of the Community Centre on a daily basis.
  • Work with the CE Supervisor to manage the relevant Community Employment staff
  • Maintenance issues which arise in the building.
  • Any other duties that may arise as a result of the above requirements and any other duties assigned by the Project Manager of the Kilcormac Development Association which are relevant to the programme of work for the Community Centre.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

  • Previous management experience in an office environment required.
  • Excellent IT Skills.
  • Friendly and professional telephone manner.
  • Good general administration skills and computer skills including Microsoft.
  • PR Skills in Social Media platforms e.g. Facebook/Twitter/Instagram.
  • Experience of Bookkeeping Accounts Package e.g. SAGE or similar is desirable but not essential.

Person Specification:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Awareness of confidentiality and the ability to deal with confidential information.
  • Good team player, who has the ability to work independently and in collaboration with others.
  • Self-starter who can take the initiative and consult where appropriate.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands.
  • An interest and working knowledge of the community sector with past volunteer experience is also desirable.
