The Rutland Centre is a residential addiction treatment centre in south Dublin. We offer a 5-week residential program to adult men and women from all over Ireland for the treatment of addictions including alcohol, drugs and gambling.

We are now recruiting for the position of qualified Chef on a 2 year fixed term contract.

This is a job-sharing post where you will work with a catering assistant and reporting to our Senior chef providing nutritious home cooked meals for up to 16 patients per day.

A job share rota is in place covering 7 days per week between 2 chefs. The position will include weekend work as per the rota. Shift times are 9.30-6pm Monday to Friday, 9-6pm Saturday and 9-3pm Sunday. Hours worked average 120 hours over 4 weeks and include 2 weekends. There is a shift premium for Sundays.

Essential requirements

  • Candidates must possess ONE of the following qualifications: A Degree, Diploma or Higher Certificate in Culinary Arts granted by a recognised College after a course of not less than two years or London City and Guilds examination number(s) 706/1 and 706/2
  • Minimum HACCP level 2 certificate
  • Good knowledge of health and safety in the kitchen including environmental health & hygiene practises
  • Passion and commitment for patient focused service
  • Ability to work on own initiative

Desirable requirements

  • Experience ordering and managing stock
  • Experience managing costs
  • Experience in the social care sector, or working with people with eating disorders
