Jobstown Assisting Drug Dependency (JADD): Project Worker x 2

Jobstown Assisting Drug Dependency (JADD) wishes to recruit the following positions:

Job title: Project Worker (x2)

Reporting to: The Manager

Hours of work: 30 hours per week (5 days over 7)

Location: Jobstown, Tallaght, Dublin 24

Base: JADD, Jobstown, Tallaght.

Salary: HSE Social Care Worker Scale, point 3

Since 1997, JADD & HSE have worked together in partnership to deliver methadone treatment to the Jobstown community. JADD are recruiting for x2 project workers to work as part of JADD’s methadone support service. JADD’s methadone support service provides support to the HSE’s staff in the operation of this service.


  • Experience working as a project worker in an addiction service.
  • Experience working in a community-based addiction service.
  • Experience of working in a harm reduction service.
  • Understanding of methadone treatment services.
  • Understanding of the National Drugs Strategy; Local Drug Task Forces; NDRIC Framework, etc.
  • Experience of working with other agencies.
  • Experience of delivering crisis interventions, brief interventions, etc.
  • Understanding and knowledge of addictive behaviours and recovery.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • IT skills.
  • Good communication skills.


  • To support the operation of methadone treatment, in partnership with the HSE.
  • To support individuals presenting for their treatment.
  • The processing of patients into HSE staff for treatment.
  • Assessing vulnerable patients and reporting concerns to JADD Team Leader.
  • Provide crisis intervention support to methadone patients, as required.
  • Provide brief intervention support to methadone patients, as required.
  • Provide referrals into JADD rehabilitation team for assessment, as required.
  • To make referrals to external and internal programmes/services.
  • To attend weekly clinical meeting.
  • To collect and maintain client information in a confidential and professional manner.
  • To record and update data – both database and hard files.
  • To develop reports as requested.
  • Other duties as directed by line supervisor.
  • Attend and participate in training, as required.


  • A third level qualification in addiction studies/social care/counselling, etc, is essential, and/or 3 years’ full time experience in the addiction/social care field.

Additional requirements

Garda vetting will be a requirement of this post.

A full driving license is also required.
