Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership

Community Development Officer with the Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership

Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership is currently seeking to appoint to our team a Community Development Officer with a passion for designing and implementing projects to combat social exclusion through working with local community groups.

The successful candidate will have a clear understanding of community development principles and be a champion of the mission and values of the Ballyfermot Chapelizod Partnership. This role will have a focus in working with the residents of the Cherry Orchard area to empower them as leaders within their own community.

The successful candidate will have a relevant third level qualification combined with an enthusiasm for enabling people to identify and take collective action on areas identified as a priority. The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the structural factors that lead to poverty in Irish society. Applications from candidates with prior experience of working with the community sector are particularly welcome. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with a strong ability to work on their own initiative, but to be equally able to work as part of a team and to incorporate feedback and consultation in their everyday work.

The successful candidate will require excellent interpersonal skills and will be engaged in developing collaborative relationships with a wide cohort of stakeholders. They will be equally comfortable working with grass roots groups as well as with local and national organisations. Suitable candidates will be conscious of the additional requirements associated with working with statutory agencies and the protection of public funds.
