The Daughters of Charity Community Services (DoCCS), located at 9 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1, is a community-based organisation providing a range of educational, training and social care services for children, young people and adults living in Dublin’s North Inner City. Our services are targeted to individuals and families experiencing socio-economic and educational disadvantage.

The organisation is currently recruiting for two roles on the Executive Team which are critical to the development of all the Services. The Finance Manager and the HR & Corporate Services Manager will work closely with the Director of Services in the leadership, development and management of the organisation to ensure the best structures, people and services are in place to enable the best service possible to participants.

The Daughters of Charity Community Services are currently advertising the following vacancies,

  1. Finance Manager – Full time, 2 year contract, after which time the longer term requirements for this role will be reviewed.
  2. HR & Corporate Services Manager – Full time, permanent

1. Finance Manager role:

The Finance Manager reports directly to the Director of Services and is a key role within the Executive Team.

The Finance Manager is responsible for ensuring the effective financial management of all income and expenditure of the DoCCS and its constituent service areas. The Finance Manager will lead the development of the Finance function through a review of processes and implementation of agreed changes to make the financial processes more efficient. In addition, the Finance Manager will review the Business strategy of the organisation with the Director of Services and propose ways to develop/implement change in line with government and other funding opportunities. The Finance Manager will work with the Director of Services and the Board to ensure effective financial governance of the DoCCS, and to this end, will attend Board meetings to provide the Board with up-to-date, accurate and regular information on the company finances. The Finance Manager will work as part of the Executive Team to support the work of the organisation. As part of the leadership and management group, the Financial Manager will work with the Director of Services and Managers to ensure the financial viability and governance of each service area.

The Finance Manager role:

Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), 2 year contract, after which time the longer term requirements for this role will be reviewed.
Reporting to: Director of Services
Salary Range: €50,000 - €55,000. Salary will be set commensurate with skills and experience
Annual Leave: The annual leave for the position is 23 days, with an additional 2 service days at times set by the organisation. The organisation is also closed on Good Friday and Christmas Eve which is additional leave to annual leave.
Hours and location of Work: The working hours are from 9am – 5pm Monday to Thursday and 9am to 1pm on Friday. The successful candidate will work from our location at 9 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1.

Essential Requirements:

  • Be a qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA) with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role,
  • Be solution focused and proactive in their approach to managing the finances of the organisation in line with best practice in finance , to include the streamlining of processes, updating of financial procedures and staff training as required,
  • Have excellent working knowledge of SAGE and Excel and an understanding of SORP accounting,
  • Have the ability to manage competing deadlines,
  • Have demonstrated ability to work with multiple funding streams and agencies
  • Be committed to the vision and mission of DoCCS
  • Have demonstrated experience of change management
  • Have strong analytical and technical skills,
  • Be an excellent communicator,
  • Proven track record of delivering projects,
  • Have strong financial controls ethos,
  • Have experience of working as part of a team and of leading a team,
  • Have financial management experience, preferably in the not-for-profit sector, would be a distinct advantage.

2. HR & Corporate Services Manager role:

The HR & Corporate Services Manager reports directly to the Director of Services and is a key role within the Executive Team.

This HR & Corporate Services Manager has a wide span of diverse responsibilities, which requires an experienced professional with strong operational and leadership experience, who can operate in both a hands-on and strategic manner, utilising exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written.

The role holder will provide high quality corporate support to all areas of the organisation, the Director of Service and the Board, delivering all areas of the HR function, procurement, facilities management, communication and IT. The HR & Corporate Services Manager, on occasion, will provide confidential administrative support directly to the Director of Services and the Board. The HR &Corporate Services Manager will work as part of the Executive Team to support the work of the organisation. As part of the Leadership and Management group, the HR & Corporate Services Manager will work closely with the Director of Services and Managers to ensure the optimum staffing, effective systems and facilities are in place to support the day-to-day operations.

The HR & Corporate Services Manager role:

Contract: Full time (35 hours per week), permanent following completion of a successful probationary period.
Reporting to: Director of Services
Salary Scale: The salary is based on the DoCCS Managers Scale which ranges from €40,209 to €45,458, depending on qualifications and experience. There are 2 long service increments after the top point of the scale.
Annual Leave: The annual leave for the position is 23 days, with an additional 2 service days at times set by the organisation. The organisation is also closed on Good Friday and Christmas Eve which is additional leave to annual leave.
Hours and location of Work: The working hours are from 9am – 5pm Monday to Thursday, with a 45 minute lunch break and 9am to 1pm on Friday. The successful candidate will work from our location at 9 Henrietta Street, Dublin 1.

Essential requirements:

  • Have third level qualification in the field of HR, business administration or equivalent qualification that has a HR component,
  • Have a minimum of 3 years experience in a similar role,
  • Be both proactive in managing the HR, IT, Facilities and Health and Safety in line with legislation and best practice,
  • Be proactive and reactive to emerging and urgent needs of the organisation,
  • Have the ability to effectively manage their workload and the competing priorities of the role,
  • Have strong knowledge of employment law,
  • Act as the go to person for all HR/IR issues,
  • Have a good understanding of governance requirements in the not-for-profit sector,
  • Be committed to the vision and mission of DoCCS,
  • Have demonstrated experience of Change Management,
  • Be an excellent communicator,
  • Have demonstrated experience of working as part of a team and leading a team,
  • Proven track record of delivering projects,
  • Have an excellent working knowledge of IT systems and use of programmes such as Microsoft word, excel and outlook,
  • CIPD membership is an advantage.
