North Dublin Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force: Case Worker

Case Worker (full time; 35 hours)
with North Dublin Community Care Service.
Context:
The North Dublin Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force is seeking a Case Worker in its front-line drug and alcohol service based in Swords and serving sites across North County Dublin. The Task Force has centres in three Community Health Network areas in North County Dublin from which it provides a range of services and supports for individuals, families and the wider community. This role is central to delivery of its frontline service which provides assessment, key working, case management and structured care planning for people living in North County Dublin who seek support for alcohol and/or other drug use. We offer a range of interventions including one-to-one and group support, utilising evidence informed interventions in a structured process.
We are seeking an experienced professional to join our incredible team in delivering a high standard of service. The successful candidate will understand the nature of drug and alcohol work, carry out their role with a person-centred ethos, be flexible and a team player.
Role:
To provide evidence informed interventions to support people who wish to address problematic alcohol and/or drug use in North Dublin.
Principal Duties:
- To provide formal assessment, key working, and care plan supports for adults who seek support for their drug and/or alcohol use.
- Conduct formal initial and comprehensive assessments with clients.
- Provide key working sessions on a one-to-one basis with clients to support them to address their own problematic drug and/or alcohol use.
- Deliver time limited one to one and group-based, evidence informed, substance use interventions with clients.
- Develop structured substance use care plans collaboratively with clients in line with their own aspirations.
- Identify other services & interventions that may benefit clients and engage in shared care planning where appropriate.
- Record client information using paper & electronic systems in line with best practise and data protection guidelines.
- Build a rapport with clients and advocate where appropriate.
- Provide case management support, if appropriate, in line with the organisations case management guidelines.
- Support clients with transition plans from the service when and if appropriate.
- Compliance with national legislation and guidelines in relation to data protection, child protection, adult safeguarding and other related policy matters.
- Support the North Dublin Regional Drug & Alcohol Task Force to respond to strategic priorities for the area.
- Play an active and positive role within the workplace team.
Essential Criteria:
- 3rd level qualification in Addiction/relevant field.
- 3 years+ frontline experience working with clients who have challenges with substance use.
- Open and innovative approach to work.
- Positive solution focussed attitude.
- Knowledge of a broad range of evidence-based substance use interventions.
- Experience in formal substance use assessment, key working and care plan development.
- Experience of inter-agency working in a relevant sector.
- Excellent administrative skills & understanding of relevant policies.
- Experience of using electronic client information recording systems.
- Understanding of confidentiality and data protection legislation.
- Proven record of working to a client centred, non-judgemental ethos.
- A goal orientated approach with an emphasis on progression in line with clients' aspirations.
- Experience of working to high standards of care.
Desirable:
- Training and/or Accreditation in relevant approaches (e.g. M.I., CBT, CRA, SMART Recovery).
- Knowledge of IT based client information systems (e.g.: eCAaS).
- Experience of group facilitation (e.g. SMART recovery).
- Experience of training delivery.
Salary scale:
Aligned to HSE grade V Salary scale (€51,206)
Other Details:
- Successful candidate will be subject to Garda Vetting.
- Access to transport important due to working across sites in North Dublin.
- Some flexibility will be required in working hours (needs based) between 9am and 8pm.
