Trustus We Care CLG, trading as Trustus Senior Care, formerly Tallaght Welfare Society, is the longest serving community/voluntary organisation in the greater Tallaght and surrounding areas, having been established by the Dominican Order Tallaght in 1969.
We operate a number of support services for the elderly and vulnerable people of our community. These services include Meals on Wheels, a Friendly Call Service, the Seniors Alert Scheme (pendant alarms), a Day Centre, Charity Shop and a CE Scheme. Role
Parttime Position comprising of 20hrs per week, over 3 days, with some flexibility required.
Purpose of the Role
To maintain high standards of professional driving practice, professional appearance, and professional communication with service users and fellow colleagues, when driving for the Trustus Senior Care (Trustus) meals on wheels service in locations around South Dublin, West Wicklow and Kildare.
Due to the ongoing expansion of the meals on wheels service, this role will involve the driver being available and flexible to work over 3 days per week.
All drivers will be expected to represent Trustus in a professional and respectful manner and wear the appropriate uniform and identification name badge, always including safe driving footwear and present for work in a neat and tidy manner.
Key Responsibilities:
Professional
- To comply with driving in a safe manner and adhere to all required documentation and confidential aspects of your role in line with Trustus Senior Care policies and procedures, the Road Safety Authority of Ireland standards, the Health and Safety Authority of Ireland standards, and the Food Safety Authority of Ireland Standards as related to your role and responsibilities.
- To ensure that a full road worthy and cleanliness check is completed prior to and after using any vehicle for meals on wheels deliveries.
- To ensure that any client and / or company information is safely and securely held in any vehicle and returned to head office after each meals on wheels service delivery.
- To report to the meals on wheels services coordinator and/or meals on wheels administrator any defects in delivery vehicles, road tax, insurance, CVRT/NCT, equipment or shortage of any supplies related to your role and responsibilities.
- Attend any meetings related to the meals on wheels service as requested and attend all mandatory in-service training as required.
- To utilise a safe problem-solving approach as issues arise in line with the relevant Trustus policies and procedures.
- To complete a Trustus incident report form for any accidents or incidents that occur during working hours and when completed return to the Finance & Operations Manager.
- Agree to complete HACCP Training and any other training relative to the role of a driver for Trustus meals on wheels service, including a working knowledge of the Food Safety Authority of Ireland standards.
- Responsible for attending the Trustus food delivery and distribution hub in Tessa House, Whitestown Way, Tallaght to ensure the safe receipt, checking, packing and/or storing of all food stuffs in line with HACCP controls, as required for the meals on wheels delivery service.
- Responsible for ensuring that all food stuffs stored in Tessa House are correctly stored pending delivery in line with food safety authority of Ireland standards and that any relevant documentation is updated each day before the delivery of meals to service users.
- To be familiar with all relevant policies and procedures within Trustus.
- To treat all information and Trustus data in a secure and confidential manner.
- To inform the administrator for meals on wheels of any deficiencies, anomalies, concerns, or complaints as related to the Trustus meals on wheels delivery service.
- To fully participate as a driver in the receipt of any monies/payments from service users and ensure any payments are recorded.
- Ensure any monies/payments are fully counted before returning all monies/payments with any delivery routes/lists to head office.
- To fully participate in any meals on wheels route plans or meals delivery confirmation/payment software application or app, as provided by Trustus through the appropriate work device for example work mobile phone.
- To fully participate in the work roster schedule and the agreed clock in and out of work system.
- To be supportive of the team and service when or if affected by sick leave or annual leave within the team.
- To be fully flexible with any change of meals on wheels delivery routes or locations within South Dublin / West Wicklow and Kildare.
- To carry out such other duties appropriate to the post as directed by management.
Risk Management/Quality Improvement
- Comply with the requirements of Trustus Health and Safety Statement and Risk Management Policy and Procedures.
Education and Training
- Attend all mandatory in-service education programmes.
- Identify any training and education needs and report same to the administrator for meals on wheels.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Health and Safety requirements as related to your role.
- Demonstrate knowledge of standard infection control precautions related to your role.
Person Specification:
Qualifications/Experience/Skills
- A full clean and valid driving licence.
- Preferably experienced in a similar role and similar environment, but training will be provided.
- Health and safety.
- Customer service.
- Handling food stuffs.
- Handling monies and providing payment receipts.
- Fluent English, reading, writing, communication.
