About the Role:

Contract type: Full-Time.
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week, 7 Days liability
Location: Main location Chapelizod (Dublin 20) with some travels to Camden Street Charity Shop as required.
Salary: 36,500 progressing to 37,320 after 6 months’ probation.

The Retail Operations Supervisor will manage one retail shop, online sales, pop-up markets, and the sorting space at the distribution centre. This role is crucial for ensuring the shop and distribution centre work together to meet customer and donor needs. The candidate will also promote teamwork across departments to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction

Responsibilities:

Operational Requirements:

  • Support the Social Enterprise vision and values.
  • Manage daily operations of the shop, markets, and distribution centre, following policies on stock, customer care, finances, health and safety, and security.
  • Ensure compliance with shop procedures and policies including security policies around cash handling
  • Create staff schedules to cover all locations and manage the van schedule for pickups and markets.
  • Maintain stock levels, oversee sorting and rotation, and ensure proper pricing and display.
  • Maximize income from all sales channels: shops, markets, and online.
  • Organize and manage pop-up shops throughout the year.
  • Prepare regular reports on sales, donations, stock, and safety.

People and Relationship Management

  • Supervise and support employees, CE workers, and volunteers (both full-time and part-time) according to Dublin Simon Community policies.
  • Work with the CE engagement supervisor to create meaningful work placements and training opportunities.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external partners, including the fundraising team and corporate volunteers, to ensure smooth operations and good donor care.
  • Organize stock sorting days for corporate volunteers and manage relationships with the property management team and neighbourhood stakeholders.
  • Represent the shop in organizational groups and at the Irish Charity Shops Association.
  • Provide training and induction for the team, ensuring compliance with all policies and required training.

Teamwork and Commitment to Quality Service:

  • Create a collaborative environment where staff and volunteers feel motivated, engaged, and assigned tasks that match their skills.
  • Work with the volunteer office on the Transition Year program.
  • Partner with the Communications team to boost the shop's social media presence, including managing the Instagram page.
  • Support client service delivery and implement the client clothing process in the shops.
  • Focus on reducing waste and stay updated on changing regulations and environmental requirements.

Person Specification:

Essential:

  • Relevant third-level qualification in retail, business studies, management, or operations.
  • Knowledge of retail operations with an understanding of the differences between mainstream retail and the charity sector.
  • Strong IT skills, ideally with Microsoft Office, e-commerce platforms, and social media.
  • At least one year of recent supervisory or management experience in a retail environment.
