Westmeath Support Service Against Domestic Abuse is a voluntary organisation based in Mullingar since 2000. Our aim is to provide support, advocacy and accurate information to women who have or are experiencing emotional, physical, sexual or financial abuse by a current or former partner by providing one-to-one and telephone support, our outreach and referral services, legal advocacy and court accompaniment.

1. Administration and Public Advocacy Worker

About the role

Job Title: Administration and Public Advocacy Officer
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Service Manager/CEO
Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours
Contract: Full Time (contract renewal is subject to funding)
Salary Scale: dependent on qualifications/experience

Requirements:

  • A relevant third level qualification in a related field.
  • Minimum three years of relevant work experience.
  • Experience in managing administrative and project work.
  • Experience in managing data.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills.
  • Exellent MS Office skills incl. Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, effective team member with the ability to work on his/her own initiative.
  • Ability to prioritise work and meet deadlines, while producing work to a high standard.
  • Ability to represent the organisation appropriately.
  • Candidates under consideration may be required to complete a health check, Garda vetting and provide a reference.
  • A full clean drivers license with access to own vehicle.

Desirable:

  • A demonstrable knowledge of the community and voluntary sector.
  • A demonstrable knowledge of domestic abuse.
  • The ability to empathise with users of the service.
  • Understanding of finance and governance procedures within the not-for-profit sector.
  • Experience in creating and facilitating educational/training programmes.

2. Support and Advocacy Worker

About the role

Job Title: Support and Advocacy Worker
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Service Manager/CEO
Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Hours of Work: 37.5 Hours
Contract: Full Time (contract renewal is subject to funding)
Salary Scale: dependent on qualifications/experience

Requirements:

  • A relevant third level qualification in a related field.
  • A minimum of three years relevant work experience.
  • A demonstratable knowledge of and a thorough understanding of the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse.
  • Experience of building and maintaining relationships with agencies, professionals and stakeholders.
  • Experience of report writing.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload with minimal supervision, and take initiative in problem solving.
  • Highly flexible and have the ability to adapt to the changing client group.
  • A full clean driver’s license with access to own vehicle.

Desirable:

  • A demonstratable experience of working with people experiencing domestic violence and abuse.
  • Understanding and working knowledge of Children’s First Legislation.
  • Competent IT Skills.
  • The ability to empathise with users of the service.
