Job Description

West Cork Travellers is a Traveller-led community development organisation working to achieve economic, cultural, health, social & political equality for the Traveller Community. We provide a range of services to the Traveller Community across West Cork, from our main base in Clonakilty as well as outreach services to Bantry, Skibbereen, Bandon and Macroom.

Title: Development / Support Worker

Nature of the Post: 

Part-time 21 hours per week. This is a permanent contract subject to annual funding.

The geographic focus of the work will be Skibbereen, Bantry, Macroom, Bandon and Clonakilty. The worker will be expected to work primarily in 3 of the 5 towns in accordance with the organisation’s needs. However, some flexibility may be required in relation to the geographical focus of the work as it develops. We expect the worker to work collaboratively and strategically with the other members of the Health & Development team.

Overall Objective: 

To improve the quality of life and promote equality for Travellers through the support and development of a range of programmes and initiatives based on the needs of the Traveller Community in West Cork. The post holder will be expected to work within the context of the social determinants of health. 

Salary: Commensurate with experience
