A bit about us

Cabra Activities Based Recreational Alternatives for Youth Clg (C.A.B.R.A. for Youth) is a community youth initiative based in Cabra Parkside Community and Sports Centre, Cabra on Dublin’s Northside. The service is home to a youth project that is funded through the UBU (Your Place, Your Space) funding scheme which targets 10-24 year olds at risk and the Step Up Project- a youth diversion project that works with young people aged 8-17yrs and is co-funded by the Government of Ireland and the European Social Fund.

The Independent Board of Management invites applications from suitably qualified enthusiastic people for a part time post of: Detached Youth Worker

What is the work?

Detached youth work is a vital service as it engages with young people who might not engage anywhere else. It truly starts from where the young people are at, and it is accessible to young people wherever they happen to be in the community. Detached youth workers work in the young people’s environment and as such are more likely to observe issues or concerns in the area.

The detached worker (s) will be expected to work as part of a dedicated detached youth work team who will work to build relationships with young people in the Royal Canal/Pelletstown area. This work will involve identifying areas where young people congregate and working in partnership with them to assess their needs and develop and deliver specific programmes to meet these needs. This role will also involve supporting a researcher to engage the young people in research work being carried out in the area.

As an employer we offer:

  • Employee Assistance Programme
  • Team Days

  • Welfare and wellbeing committee
